Hartlepool Golf Club celebrates fundraising success
Members of Hartlepool Golf Club are celebrating after an incredibly successful year of fundraising for Alice House Hospice patients.
The club’s 2016-17 Captain, Kevin Jones chose the Hospice as his nominated charity and throughout the year organised a variety of fundraising initiatives, resulting in a fantastic total of £17,817. He was also able to donate £1,000 to the Saras Hope Foundation, which organises holidays for families with terminally ill children.
“It has been a pleasure to get to know Kevin and his family over the last year and his hard work has certainly paid off. It is obvious how well thought of he is by his fellow members who have supported him throughout his Captaincy. All of the money raised will be used to care for Hospice patients, who are suffering from incurable illnesses.

Kevin organised a number of fundraising events including a coast to coast bike ride, charity walk, Boxing Day dip and some club members also took part in the Great North Run.
Hospice Fundraiser Greg Hildreth, who attended a cheque presentation at the club on Sunday 12 February, was delighted with the support;

“We have a long-standing relationship with the Club and a number of past Captains have also nominated the Hospice and I was delighted to hear that Kevin’s successor, Neal Thornley, has also selected the Hospice as one of his chosen charities; I would like to wish him the best of luck.
“On behalf of everyone at the Hospice, I would like to say a huge thank you to Kevin, his partner Joanne and all of his supporters.”
Kevin added
“It has been a huge honour and privilege to be Captain of this fantastic golf club. My family and I have received tremendous support from our families, friends and members in raising much-needed funds for a very worthy local charity”.
