Bereavement & Counselling & Support Sessions still available despite outreach closure in Peterlee

Alice House Hospice had, since 2010, been providing an outreach service at the Peterlee Macmillan Cancer Information Centre, for people living in the East Durham community to have easier access to bereavement counselling. Unfortunately, due to the recent closure of the Peterlee Macmillan Centre, our outreach service has now ended.

Jan Grocott, Head of Counselling & Support Services at the Hospice said, “We would like to offer reassurance that bereavement counselling and support is still available to residents of East Durham and Hartlepool here at Alice House Hospice, irrespective of whether you have or have not had previous contact with Alice House.”

Any adult who has experienced a bereavement can speak to a member of our team about self-referral on 01429 855550 or they can be referred by their GP or other healthcare professional.

For child/young person referrals, a parent/guardian can enquire about making a referral by telephoning us on 01429 855550 or the child/young person can be referred by their GP, school or other health care professionals that may be involved in their care.

Anticipatory Grief Counselling and/or support is available for adults, children and young people when a close family member is attending the Hospice prior to death.

We also provide a monthly drop in/support group for bereaved parents who have experienced the death of an adult child, please contact us on 01429 855550 for more details.
