Hartlepool Circle of the Catenian Association raise funds for the hospice
A Hartlepool group have shown their support for their local Hospice and raised a fantastic £502.50 from a ‘treasure and trash’ auction.
The Hartlepool Circle of the Catenian Association held the fundraising event where members and guests bid for mystery prizes to generate much-needed funds for Alice House Hospice.
The Catenian Association is a Catholic global association, with regional Provinces, and individual Circles. The motto of the Catenian Association is “Strengthening family life through friendship and faith.” Each year a Circle President ‘adopts’ one or more charitable causes, and any fund raising activity throughout the year is donated to those chosen causes. The Hospice is one of this year’s chosen causes for Hartlepool Circle.
Hospice Fundraiser Greg Hildreth was invited to a recent meeting of the Catenians at Hartlepool’s Best Western Grand Hotel to accept the generous donation and thank the members on behalf of the charity.
Greg said “It was lovely to meet with the group and see how warm and enthusiastic they are about the work of the Hospice. Without this kind of support, the services we deliver to the community would not be possible and I would like to say a very big thank you on behalf of all at the Hospice.”
Hartlepool Circle President, David Johnson said “There were a lot of laughs raising money at the auction, not least in the surprised faces of those who bid in the hope of winning something far better than that which they received! We are delighted to be able to help raise much-needed funds for a cause that so many of our members and guests have encountered personally through the excellent care of their own family or friends. It is an amazing facility. We are planning to host a themed ‘Black Tie’ charity event in November, which will be open to our members, guests and also our parish communities, all to help raise further funds.”
