Demand for Day Care Increases
Alice House Hospice provides a Day Hospice for people living with life limiting illnesses living in the local community. However some people have needs which are more social in nature and therefore attending Day Care can help
These needs can be things like: feeling lonely and bored; perhaps wanting to build up friendships and support groups; improving social skills or wanting to give carers, family or loved ones some "time off.
All of these are examples of the types of situations many local people feel they are in and coming along to Day Care provides the stimulation, support and increased wellbeing that they are looking for.
Day Care currently takes place every Tuesday and Thursday in the Holistic Wellbeing Centre and is a relaxing and friendly place to make new friends, get involved in all sorts of activities, games, arts and crafts including our soon to arrive hens.
Day Care is also a wonderful place to access relaxation therapies including relaxation exercises as well as a full range of bookable therapies (additional costs may apply).
Feedback from users of Day Care is always positive and here are a few examples:
“Highlight of my week, I couldn’t do without it.”
“I look forward to socialising and being pampered.”
In fact, Day Care is now so popular that we have opened up for a third day each week and Fridays are now open for bookings. Transport to and from Day Care can be arranged if needed.
The cost of attending Day Care can be met by using a Personal Budget, Direct Payment, Personal Health Budgets and Continuing Health Care Funding or it can be paid for privately.
