Youngsters from National Citizenship Scheme help the Hospice

There is always ongoing maintenance work that needs attention at Alice House Hospice and it is difficult to find the time and the staff to perform these regular maintenance tasks without spending money on outside contractors.

The National Citizenship scheme has, over the years, helped to support the Hospice to do many of these maintenance jobs that they simply don’t have the time or funds to complete.

This year a group of youngsters came to the Hospice through local football club Hartlepool United to complete some much needed painting and decorating work.

Tracy Woodall, Chief Executive at the Hospice said, “This year the young people have painted a dreary connecting tunnel for us and it now has a nice bright blue coat of paint which makes it much more inviting.

“One of the young people chose us as we had provided service to a family member this year and they wanted to give something back.  We would like to thank all of those involved for their support; this is a great scheme to get young people involved with local charities.”
