Hospice shops smashed their fundraising target
It has been a roller-coaster 18 months for Alice House Hospice’s charity shops. From the highs of opening a brand new flagship store in Middleton Grange in September, to the terrible arson attack on the store in Horden.
“It is an incredible feeling. I am so proud of each and every one of our Volunteers, Van Drivers and Shop Managers. They all give 110% every day to not only raise funds that the Hospice relies on, but to make each store a lovely place to shop and a great place to volunteer and work.”

Upper Middleton, as the new store is affectionately known by the Retail Volunteers, offers for sale some of the best ‘new to you’ items you will find. This store is one of the largest premises and is lovely to walk around and view such a variety of items – everything from clothing, children’s toys, homewares to bridal dresses!
Fortunately nobody was harmed from the fire in Horden but the entire stock was lost and the income it would have been generating since its closure in October.
Despite this setback, the incredible hard work, dedication and passion of the Volunteers who work across each and every Hospice shop has meant that not only have the Hospice shops reached their target for the year, but they surpassed it too.
