Hootenanny another big hit!
August bank holiday weekend saw the third annual Hootenanny and Beer Fest, held jointly between Alice House Hospice and charity partners Hartlepool Rugby Club; it was held on Sunday 26 August at the Club’s home, Mayfield Park.
The sell-out event saw around 700 people enjoying the entertainment and refreshments and generated over £6,500, all of which will be used to provide support and care to local patients and families.
The event’s main sponsor was Cameron’s Brewery but it was also supported by over 30 other businesses and individuals who kindly sponsored beer barrels and other resources. With a wide selection of beers, lagers and ciders on offer, fresh hot food and live bands and funk and soul DJ Fake Charles, the event was a huge hit. Crowds were not deterred by the mixed weather and were kept warm and dry under the cover of a large marquee throughout the day.
Greg Hildreth, a Fundraiser at Alice House said “What a fantastic day it was and one of the most well attended fundraising events we have seen. I’d like to extend thanks to Hartlepool Rugby Club, in particular Liam Lester, for all the hard work and support with this massive project. Likewise we would like to thank Cameron’s for sponsoring, as well as all who sponsored barrels or provided resources. We had a great day and hope that everyone else did too; the event provided a fundraising boost that will make a real difference to the lives of local people.”
Over the last three years, the Hootenanny events have generated around £12,500, all of which has gone directly into patient care at the Hospice.
Next year’s event is already booked in for Sunday 25 August 2019 so keep your eyes peeled for tickets going on sale.
