The special gift of giving at Christmas

A kind local family brightened up Christmas for patients at Alice House Hospice by bringing surprise presents to them on Christmas day.

Simon Corbett, CEO of local company Orangebox Training, along with his son and daughter Austin and Poppy started the tradition of giving Christmas gifts to patients two years ago when they visited Simon’s dad, Ian Corbett, in hospital and took presents for him and other patients.

Ian has since sadly passed away but the family decided to continue to do this in his memory. This year, as well as visiting the Hospital as usual, they decided to share gifts with neighbouring Alice House patients too.

Simon said “We do this in memory of my dad and are more than happy to put smiles on people’s faces.”

Greg Hildreth of Alice House added “What a lovely and thoughtful thing to do; it was so kind of Simon, Austin and Poppy to take the time out to brighten up the day for people suffering from serious illnesses. It’s also a lovely example of young people supporting their local community with a really selfless gesture on Christmas day.”
