TJ Hughes Purple Week Success
Purple Week takes place every year in early Spring and the Hospice invites supporters to help raise funds and awareness, using the colour purple as a theme.
This year Alice House Hospice’s annual Purple Week took place between 13-19 April and there was great support from individuals, groups and businesses throughout the town, including T J Hughes in Middleton Grange, who raised a fantastic £863 for the charity.
In-store fundraising activities throughout the week included a tombola, name the rabbit competition and guess the number of sweets in the jar, whilst the main event was a coffee morning held in their café on 17 April. Throughout the week, the store was decorated in purple, which is a colour closely associated with Alice House.
Matt Phillpott, Manager at T J Hughes said “As a business we want to support local charities and when talking with my team in store the charity they all wanted to help was Alice House Hospice. Some of the team have had first-hand experience of what they do and were excited to be able to help fundraise.”
As a store, we decided on a raffle and a coffee morning to coincide with the Purple Week. The response of the Hartlepool people was fantastic and the coffee morning was a great success. The generosity of the staff and customers was fantastic and helped raise £832.76. We are looking to continue this great success and are already planning the next fundraising event.”
Janice Forbes, Community Fundraiser Alice House said, “It’s great to have the support of one of the town’s busiest shops. The staff were so dedicated in their fundraising efforts and I would like to congratulate them on their brilliant success. Thanks also go to the customers who made this possible and everyone else who got involved with Purple Week. I look forward to T G Hughes’ continued support.”
