Volunteers Celebrated with Afternoon Tea
Volunteers at Alice House Hospice are involved in every way, from Patient care to Fundraising, Retail Shops to Admin, Finance to Catering and Gardening and Hen Keeping.
Every department is supported by wonderful individuals who volunteer their time, helping our community to have a Hospice that they can be proud of.
Charlene Welsh, IPU Ward Clerk, said “We would not manage without them… our Volunteers commit themselves to help the staff and patients in their own time and make a real difference every single day! They truly are special people.”
This year staff at Alice House Hospice wanted to do something new to mark the amazing effort that Hospice Volunteers put into making sure that patients and their families can continue to get hospice care as and when they need it.
On Friday 7th June, during Volunteers Week, staff from across the Hospice welcomed 25 Volunteers for a celebratory Afternoon Tea created by the Catering Team.
Janice, who volunteers in the Inpatient Unit helping with the laundry and patient meals, said “I’ve had an afternoon tea in the Ritz in London before and this was better than that”.
Fundraising Volunteer, Sybil Mountford, presented her original poem dedicated to Alice House Volunteers, in which she wrote:
At the end of the Afternoon Tea thank you gift bags were hand delivered by a special guest Alice Mouse.
