‘Outstanding Contribution Award’ for long-running supporter
Alice House supporter, runner and volunteer Phil Holbrook was recognised for his fundraising and other services to Alice House at the pre-Great North Run pasta meal held at the Hospice on 7 September.
Phil has been involved with Alice House for many years and founded Team Sally who take part in the Great North Run every year, as well as other fundraising and voluntary projects.
Team Sally was named after Phi’s late wife who lost her life in a car accident in 2012, which also left Phil with critical injuries.
Since then, Phil and his team have raised over £25,000 for Hospice care, including dedicating a room in Alice House’s Long Term Care Unit to Sally’s memory.
In light of Phil’s remarkable achievements and kindness, he was awarded a trophy for his Outstanding Contribution to Alice House at the meal; this was met with cheers and applause from fellow runners.
Phil’s fundraising and charity work is ongoing and next year is looking to celebrate his 60th birthday by taking part in his 30th Great North Run, which is also the event’s 40th anniversary.
