Amazing and ongoing support from Wynyard Park

Hospice Patrons Wynyard Park recently donated a cheque for £11,000 to Alice House Hospice, which was raised at their Royal Ascot themed event held at Rockliffe Hall during the summer of 2019.

The event was a two day fundraiser in aid of the Alice House and the Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation.

The day was held in memory of Joe Musgrave, founding member of the Hospice’s Guild of Patrons and father of local entrepreneur Chris Musgrave OBE who established Wynyard Park.  Chris who is Chief Executive Officer of Wynyard Park, has continued his father’s charitable work with the support of his family and colleagues, and was recently awarded an OBE for his services to business.

Wynyard Park is a housing development site offering flexible living options from self-build plots to ready to move in luxury homes. The team have raised and donated in the region of £200,000, which includes hosting and attending events, an annual pledge of £5,000, sponsorship, advertising and paying for the conversion and refurbishment of two rooms in the Alice House’s Long Term Care Unit, which were named ‘The Joe Musgrave Rooms’ as a tribute.   Chris and other Wynyard Park staff have also provided valuable introductions to other businesses who have gone on to become major donors to the charity.

Chris’ mother and Joe’s widow Mary is a regular visitor to Alice House and has made a number of personal donations, as well as often calling in with cakes and biscuits for patients and their families.

Julie Hildreth, Senior Fundraising Manager at Alice House said “The support we receive from the Musgrave family and Wynyard Park is phenomenal; this goes a long way towards funding our services and enabling us to continue the provision of Hospice care to patients and families from Hartlepool and East Durham.

The fundraising that takes place in Joe’s memory is a fantastic tribute to a kind and lovely man; he has left a legacy of support through his family who continue his work.

I would also like to congratulate Chris on his recent OBE; a well-deserved accolade. It is wonderful to see such high recognition of his business achievements alongside his services to charity and the community.

Chris is a great ambassador of Alice House Hospice and of North East businesses. We are very grateful to Chris, Mary and all at Wynyard Park for their ongoing generosity.”

Chris added: “I am eternally grateful for the upbringing I received from my parents; it’s where I gained a strong work ethic. Applying these lessons, along with a dedicated team, has allowed me to develop a successful business.

This region is my home and it is important that we use success to support wonderful charities like Alice House who are delivering such valuable services.”
