Meet Jan Dunn
Jan is a Senior Healthcare Assistant and Day Care Coordinator at Alice House Hospice
My career began at Alice House Hospice in 2000 as a Volunteer.
After losing my parents, both at a young age to cancer, I always knew I wanted to be able to care for others in similar situations.
I was worried at first how I would cope with looking after people who had life-limiting illnesses. That worry quickly subsided as I found the role so rewarding.
Luckily, I was quickly offered a part-time post which then led to a full-time post.
I have worked in different areas of the Hospice, including in the Inpatient Unit, as a part of the Bereavement Team and currently I work in the Wellbeing Centre. This is where I feel I meet patients at a different stage in their journey.
I feel it is an honour and a privilege to be a part of so many people’s journey and being able to care for them and their families.
