A Big HUG for Alice House Hospice
The Hartlepool Ukulele Group (HUG) have been busy performing throughout the region and have presented a fantastic £1500 to Alice House Hospice.
HUG who formed in January 2012 have been collecting for the Hospice since their first gig which was in the foyer at Tesco.
In 2019 their performances included Leyburn Food Festival, Leyburn 40s weekend, Pickering 40s weekend, and Beamish Museum.
The group, who meet every Thursday at the Athenaeum in Church Street, perform many different types of music from the 1920s through to more modern music. In return for performing they ask for a donation to their chosen charity which is Alice House Hospice
Dave Hunter Chairman of HUG said “It has been another great year for HUG and we have had the privilege to perform some fabulous gigs. We are really pleased that we were able to collect such a fantastic amount for the Hospice. The Hospice is a fabulous local charity and one that is very close to our hearts.”
Janice Forbes, Community Fundraiser at the Hospice said. “To date, HUG has raised a tremendous £11,757 for patient care; they are a lovely group and it is always a pleasure to meet up with them. To have their support for all these years is amazing.”
