Fundraising with art…
Local artist reaches out to help charities during the Coronavirus pandemic
Fundraising has become increasingly difficult for all charities during this pandemic so it is lovely to hear of all the ways our local community have come up with to help support Alice House.
Local artist Malcolm Davies is raising money for North East charities through an initiative he set up called Art Against Coronavirus.
Malcolm, who paints a variety of subjects including: railways, aviation, buildings, motoring and scenery, has set up a Facebook page to showcase both his and others’ work and he is urging other talented creatives to come forward and donate their own work in aid of local charities during the Coronavirus crisis. The call is not just for painters but includes all art forms including photography, model makers and wood carvers to name a few. All of the pieces of artwork listed start at very reasonable, some from just a few pounds.
Until further notice, Malcolm will donate 100% of all proceeds of sales from the Facebook page or his own website to local charities including Alice House Hospice who have already received a generous donation of £250.
Greg Hildreth, Deputy Fundraising Manager at Alice House said, “It was great to hear from Malcolm and wonderful that he has chosen to use his art to help charities as such a difficult time. For the Hospice, most of our usual fundraising channels are on hold until further notice which means that our income is severely affected and we are reliant on public support more than ever. I would like to thank Malcolm on behalf of everyone at Alice House and also everyone else who has come forward to show their support.”
Malcolm is keen to spread the word about this project and said, “I am calling on other artists to donate some of their artwork to support this cause. The support is building but we need to spread the word, the more people who know, the more money we can raise.”
The pieces being auctioned can all be found on Malcolm’s “Art against Coronavirus” Facebook page – happy bidding!
Malcolm has other pieces of his own artwork on sale through his own website at www.malcolmdaviesart.co.uk.
