Launching our Virtual Dogs Day Out
Our long standing Dogs Day OUt is unable to proceed because of the Coronavirus Crisis has now relaunched as an online event.
The annual Dogs’ Big Day Out, which has been held at Summerhill for over ten years in aid of Alice House is now proceeding as a special ‘Lockdown Edition’ with the intention of still giving dogs and their owners a fun experience whilst raising funds for patient care.
The new version maintains many of the event’s regular features, only organised differently in line with safety guidelines. The sponsored dog walk is included only this time, walkers are encouraged to go out and do their own walk, or walking challenge with their dogs, whilst raising sponsorship.
One of the events’ most popular features will now take place via the Alice House Facebook page and this is the Fun Dog Show – this time around, entrants can submit photos of their dogs to be judged in different categories such as Most Happy Hound, Most like their Owner and Best Fancy dress, with prizes for the winners.
There is also a raffle with a variety of doggy prizes and tickets can be bought online.
The event is sponsored by Bridge Veterinary Group who have supported for a number of years and is organised in association with the Hartlepool Academy of Dog Training and Behaviour and Star Paws Grooming Parlour.
Deputy Fundraising Manager at Alice House, Greg Hildreth said “Throughout this crisis we have had such kind support from both regular and new supporters and have had to adapt to new ways of raising funds and finding new ways of running our regular events, like this version of the Dogs’ Day Out. I hope that people will still come forward to get involved and that we can all get together again next year, circumstances allowing.
I would also like to say a huge thank you to Bridge, the Academy of Dog Training and Behaviour and Star Paws for sticking with us through these difficult times and continuing to show such warmth and kindness.
