Getting the Chop for Charity
Young fundraiser Caitlin Shillaw had her luscious locks cut in support of two charities.
Caitlin's Nanna was supported by Alice House before moving to a care home and she wanted to find a way to say thank you for the wonderful care she received.
So Caitlin combined her efforts to help two charities at the same time; she made the decision to have her beautiful long hair cut; not only did she ask for sponsorship for the ‘chop’ she also donated her precious hair to The Little Princess Trust.
Over 17 inches of her hair were cut and donated and she raised a whopping £1,596.24 for Alice House.
Cailtin said, “I would like to thank everyone who donated and sponsored me; I am very thankful for all the support of family, friends and the residents of Seaton Carew. I would also like to thank the staff at The Cutting Carew for their support.”
Janice Forbes, Community Fundraiser “Caitlin is a fine example of a young person supporting the community. She should be very proud of herself for the incredible amount she raised. It been a very challenging time for Alice House, but the support we have had from young people has been unbelievable.”
