Hospice Care Week & Purple Week

A time to celebrate the work of hospices across the UK ... here for you, right until the end.

This week is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate hospices and the care they provide nationwide. It’s a chance to demonstrate the value of support, care and what matters to us as individuals at the end of our lives. And, after a turbulent and difficult year for us all, we need Hospice Care Week more than ever.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had, and continues to have, a huge impact on the hospice and end of life sector. We have had to rapidly adapt – working nonstop to create new, innovative services to keep patients safe and connected, both at home and in inpatient units.   Hospices up and down the country have gone above and beyond to reach thousands of patients and families with the care they so desperately need.

And we have done all this while grappling with ever-changing guidelines, adapting to wearing full PPE, and not being able to touch or hug patients and families – an aspect that forms such an important part of care. The pandemic has taken its toll on hospice staff and patients, and yet hospices are still there when they are needed most.

That’s why Hospice Care Week is so important. After an incredibly difficult 18 months, this is the time to say thank you. To celebrate our amazing hospice sector, to thank everyone for working so hard and to ensure these vital services can continue for everyone; no matter who or where they are.

Whether with your hospice, with your organisation, or with friends and family, join us from 4 – 8 October 2021 and show your support for hospice care. Here at Alice House we are celebrating Hospice Care Week with our very own Purple Week an opportunity for ‘anyone or everyone’ to take part in their own way and help raise awareness and funds for your local Hospice.

So now is the time to ‘Get Your Purple On and start fundraising for Alice House Hospice any way you can and in the ‘purplest’ manner you can. Whether you decide to bake and sell purple cakes, dye your hair purple or wear purple to work, the options are limitless and you can be as imaginative as you like.

It’s totally FREE to take part in Purple Week and if you register using the button at the top of the page, our behind the scenes team will scurry away and set up a personalised fundraising page for you to share with friends and family – a great way to get your fundraising started, you can even set up a team if you want to make it a joint fundraising effort!
