Ways to help your Hospice

Alice House Hospice is appealing for support from businesses and the local community, following the recent announcement of the closure of its Long-Term Care Unit.

The Hospice, which continues to be affected by the cost of living crisis, was forced to make the difficult decision in order to secure the future of its core Inpatient services, which remain unaffected.

Co-Chief Executive Officer Nicola Haggan said “Financially, Alice House is facing its most challenging year so far. The increase in service costs, bills and resources, combined with a reduction in donations means that we need as much extra help as people can give.

The cost of living crisis is affecting everyone and it is a really tough time for charities. As always, we have a huge focus on Fundraising and hope that as many people as possible can join us at our events this year, or take part in our campaigns to ensure the ongoing provision of Hospice care in our region.”

Ways in which you can support the Hospice can all be seen on the Hospice website and promoted via its social media pages including Facebook and Twitter.

The Hospice operates a weekly lottery and also runs nine charity shops in Hartlepool and East Durham, where people can donate and buy a variety of new and used items.

As well as this there are plans for a variety of fundraising events and appeals throughout the summer including the Colour Run, Great North Run, Forget Me Not, Hootenanny and Beer Fest, Sponsored Skydive and Memory Stroll.

Nicola added “As well as our own organised fundraising, we are also calling on local businesses and community groups to show their support by hosting their own events or challenges to help raise money and keep our doors open for the people who need us.”
