8th Annual Hootenanny Raises £8,684 For Local Hospice Care
Alice House Hospice and Hartlepool Rugby Club team up for another sell-out beer festival and fundraising success.
The annual Hootenanny which takes place at Hartlepool Rugby Club’s Mayfield Park every August Bank Holiday in aid of Alice House Hospice was another sell-out success this year.
With just under 1,000 people in attendance on 27 August, the all-day festival raised over £8,600 for local Hospice care.
The event included a selection of over 30 beers, lagers, stouts and ciders for thirsty ticket holders to enjoy, along with a full day of live music, interspersed with funk and soul music courtesy of DJ Fake Charles AKA long term Hospice supporter Mally Day.
The live bands included Finlay Dobing, Erin Frances, Dig the Old Breed, Pek & Wanley and headline act The Sequel who between them, delivered ten hours of hits and singalongs to the packed marquee.
Each of the beers was sponsored by a local business or family and the beer cups were sponsored by Exwold Technology Ltd. who have been partners of the local charity for many years.
The event was powered by Speedy Hire, who provided a generator free of charge.
Greg Hildreth, a member of the Senior Management Team at Alice House said, “Thanks to our friends and supporters at Hartlepool Rugby Club for another amazing day and fundraising total – the love and support that this event has is wonderful, both in terms of raising funds for Hospice services and as an established event for our town – long may it continue to bring people together for a great day out and a very important cause.
“On behalf of everyone at the Hospice, I would also like to express our appreciation to those sponsored, volunteered and attended, along with the long list of people who worked so hard to ensure the day was another success.”
Lee Dodgson, of Hartlepool Rugby Club, added: “We’re delighted that the Hootenanny has once again raised such a substantial amount of money for Alice House Hospice. It’s always a pleasure to be able collaborate with them on this event.
“This year’s Hoot was our biggest yet, with tickets selling out in record time. It’s incredible to see how it has grown from very humble beginnings over the last 8 years to the event it is today. That is down to the love and support that the local community has for it and the cause it represents. The atmosphere was fantastic from start to finish and plans for 2024 are already well underway.”
Alice House and Hartlepool Rugby Club will be announcing details of next year’s event soon and are already recruiting sponsors for the day. If you or your workplace would like to sponsor, you can contact Greg on ghildreth@alicehousehospice.co.uk
