Alice House Hospice and Hartlepool Golf Club announce new charity golf day

Alice House Hospice is proud to announce that long-term supporter Hartlepool Golf Club will be hosting the first ever charity golf day held by the two.

With the support of local businesses, Alice House is excited to have agreed to bring a day of sporting fun and competition to its hometown while helping to raise much-needed funds along the way.

The 2024 Alice House Golf Day will take place on March 22 when the Hospice will welcome 20 teams to take part in the fourball competition.

Julie Hildreth, Alice House’s Fundraising Senior Manager, said “It is great to be working with the club on a new event, which we are really excited about.

“We are hoping that this can be the start of an established event in the region’s golfing calendar and bring together local businesses to raise much needed funding for local patient care.

“Thanks to the club and everyone else who has supported this project so far – interest has already been very positive and we are hoping to launch our first event as a sell-out.”

Holding a golf day at Hartlepool GC was initially put forward as an idea to Alice House by Harrison Smith, a financial adviser with Emerald Associates in the town and a long-term member at the golf club, and things have gathered pace from there.

Alice House is now organising the event with extra support from Harrison, Rephrase’s Paul Fraser and Hartlepool GC’s Club Manager Mark Davies. The Hospice’s Volunteer Business Ambassador, Simon Corbett, CEO of Orangebox Training Solutions, will be the compere and auctioneer on the day.

Harrison said: “This should be a fantastic occasion and hopefully the support is there for this to come back again and again. Alice House is an incredible organisation who needs as much support as they can get from the business community and the people of Hartlepool.

“I can’t wait for the event to come around and I’m excited at the prospect of seeing golfers head out on to the course and battle it out for the right to win the first Alice House Golf Day.”

The Alice House Golf Day will begin with coffee and bacon sandwiches before a shotgun start. During the competition there will be prizes for the longest drive and nearest to the pin.

Following this, players will return to the clubhouse for a two-course meal, followed by prize giving, a raffle and auction.

Hartlepool GC has a long history with the Hospice, having been regularly nominated as the chosen charity by many of its past Captains as well as current Captain, Mark Whitelock.

A fourball team costs £240 and this includes golf, breakfast and meal.
