Fitting Tribute To Dancing Betty
Our recent Cycle A Marathon charity bike ride had special added significance for Lynn Kimmins and Keith Perry.
Lynn’s mum Betty passed away at Alice House in November at the age of 87.
In July 2023, Betty had what was initially thought to be a stroke but she was later diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Within just a few short weeks it robbed her of the use of her right arm and leg, and with that her independence.
“Although she was unable to speak by the time she arrived at Alice House, she appeared so much happier. My mum had been a hospice volunteer for many years and I’m sure she knew she was in the best place. The care for both her and me, before and after she passed away, was very much appreciated.” said Lynn.
“Mum loved to dance and although she was 87 she didn’t look her age. She was the life and soul of every occasion and went sequence dancing several times a week together with dance holidays to Blackpool organised by local dance groups.
“When I saw there was a bike ride near her birthday that went to The Dancing Betty, in Dalton Park, it seemed like a great way to remember my mum and support Alice House Hospice.”
Family friend Keith had known Betty for over 40 years and took part in the ride helping to raise £510 for Alice House in her memory.
We would like to thank Lynn and Keith for their support and for sharing Betty’s story with us.
