Christmas is coming, which means a fundraising-packed few weeks for Alice House Hospice to end the year, ensuring that Hospice patients and families have access to the care they need.
The Hospice provides a number of festive opportunities to support its services, including a number of well-established events.
The Hospice’s two seasonal ‘in memory’ campaigns, Trees of Remembrance and Light up a Life take place throughout November and December, with the Trees opening in Middleton Grange from 18 November and the Light up a Light appeal open now via the Hospice website and a mailing to regular supporters.
There are also two memorial church services to close Light up a Life, held on 12 and 13 December at Saint Paul’s Church in Hartlepool (7pm) and Saint Cuthbert’s Church in Peterlee (6:30pm) respectively; all are welcome.
For families looking for a fun and festive way to kick off their celebrations, the Santa Fun Run returns to Ward Jackson Park on 1 December. Now in its sixteenth year, the fancy dress fun run is attended by families looking to get into the Christmas mood. The fun starts from 10am with the run commencing at 11.
Hospice merchandise is on sale in the run up to Christmas, including Beanie toys in participating local schools and Calendars which are sold at Alice House reception, all Hospice shops, other retailers and also online.
The Hospice’s Fundraising Senior Manager, Julie Hildreth said “Christmas is busy for most people and a really important time in terms of fundraising – our supporters are so generous at this time of year, which makes a big difference to families accessing our services.
“For those wishing to support on a more regular basis, we have the Hospice Lottery and Regular Giving. We also encourage workplaces, schools, community groups and individuals to hold their own fundraisers to help provide care for our patients this Christmas.
“I would like to wish everyone a very happy Christmas on behalf of Alice House and say a big thank you for all of your support and kindness this year.”
