The services are supported by a Consultant led Multi-Disciplinary Team. The team includes Healthcare Professionals such as; Hospice Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Senior Healthcare Assistants, Healthcare Assistants, Complementary Therapist, Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist. This Specialist team allows a holistic approach to each individual’s care plan enabling their individual needs and wishes to be considered.

Inpatient Unit

Specialist symptom management, supporting patients in the control of symptoms they may be experiencing.  The Hospice’s Inpatient Unit provides short-term specialist palliative care for patients and their families within the Hartlepool, Tees Valley and East Durham area. The focus of our Specialist Palliative Care is a Multi-Disciplinary Team of professionals who provide patients with individualised care whilst promoting and maintaining the best quality of life possible.

Nutritional & Catering Support

Nutrition in the Hospice is complex and patients’ individual needs differ immensely. Providing optimum nutrition is the ultimate aim of the Catering Team.

Special diets are never a problem and the Catering Team will, for instance, be able to prepare a meal for a particular diet whether for medical reasons such as diabetes or religious grounds e.g. Kosher or Halal. In situations where food needs to be puréed this is done.

Although generally meals are at set times during the day, they can be flexible so if for instance a patient is not hungry or is asleep when food is being served, their meal can be kept for a more suitable time.

We operate a Protected Meal Time system which means that meal times will not be interrupted by any healthcare professionals.

“I would have no qualms about returning especially to sample the wonderful food served up by the catering staff.
