Walking Wearmouth to Weardale for Alice House

A Hartlepool man is undertaking a walking challenge to raise funds for Alice House and Brain Tumour Research, in tribute to family members and friends

Mally Day is walking a 35 mile route along the River Wear from Wearmouth on the coast, up to Stanhope in the heart of Weardale, whilst raising sponsorship to be split between the two charities.

Mally has also previously taken part in Hospice events including It’s a Knockout and also offers his services as funk and soul DJ Fake Charles, free of charge each year at the charity’s Hootenanny & Beer Fest.

Mally said, The Hospice was crucial in the support of my Grandparents as they got older and poorly.  Help that my family and I appreciated so very much. They helped us in ways we never expected. They were so kind and whenever I can offer any help I will.

Brain tumour research is close to me as a very good friend and his family have been affected and I would love to feel I’ve helped in some way.

If anyone would like to join me for a mile or so please feel free – I may stop in a pub or two along the route. I will be updating my location on Facebook along the journey.  Any donations will be greatly appreciated and split between these two great causes.”

Janice Forbes, Community Fundraiser at Alice House said “Wishing Mally the best of luck for his challenge and thanks to him and all his sponsors too – I’m sure it will be tough on the feet but hope that it is enjoyable too.”
