Hospice CEOs Share Plans for Government’s Capital Donation

Alice House Co-CEOs Nicky Haggan and Sandra Britten have shared the Hospice’s plans for how they will invest the Government’s recent capital donation to enhance its facilities and services.

The donation was made as part of a £75 million national initiative to modernise facilities and deliver upgrades to Hospices across England, including improving patient and family areas, gardens and IT services.

Alice House’s share of this donation is £182,598 and in a joint statement, Co-Chief Executives, Nicky and Sandra said:

“The majority of our income generation is used to directly fund patient care and this significant contribution provides a welcome opportunity for us to develop other areas of the Hospice.

“We will use this money to make improvements to our Inpatient Unit, particularly focusing on the en-suites in patients’ bedrooms, which need refurbishment and modernisation. We also will be updating our IT systems.

“We would like to thank the Government for their investment in the care provided by the UK’s Hospice movement.

“We would like to stress that this money does not offset the ongoing fundraising challenges that we and other Hospices face to sustain vital services for local families – as this funding must be assigned to specific capital projects, which add value in other ways.

“Our need for business and community support remains as crucial as ever and our fundraising efforts will continue as normal.”

The Government have issued a full statement detailing the details of the funding and how it can be used, which you can read here.
