Quality of Care

Alice House Hospice endeavors to ensure that the services provided to its community remain of a consistently high quality and that both the patients and their families receive the best care possible.

Continuous monitoring and compliance checks are conducted throughout the year to ensure the Hospice is maintaining its high standards of care and that when services are reviewed and audited, recommendations for improvements are made to guarantee that the highest quality of care continues.

The Hospice is required to have a Registered Manager in place to ensure the Hospice’s regulated activities are managed by an appropriate person.  This means that the Hospice is maintaining the safety and excellent care which it delivers to ensure that the service users have a good experience.  The Care Quality Commission regulates the Hospice and ensures that, as providers, our services remain of a good standard.

The Hospice appreciates the ever changing needs of its community and those that require access to the services delivered. Utilising national and local guidelines gives the Hospice the tools required to maintain its standards. Although these guidelines are essential, service improvement and maintaining the quality of care requires feedback and input from those that have had contact with the Hospice.

Each patient that accesses our services will be asked to complete a satisfaction survey, as will their carers, giving their opinion of the care that was provided such as:

  • Time spent with them
  • Professional input
  • Facilities and environment
  • Cleanliness
  • Food

The Hospice also has a User Involvement Group which consists of service users and families/carers to help steer and shape the future of the services the Hospice delivers. This group is paramount to foresee future issues and concerns and to overcome the challenges that the Hospice and its users face; it also ensures that we continue to give every person a good experience regardless of their circumstances.
