Art therapies for hospice patients

Since October 2017, various artists have been joining the Hospice team at the Day Hospice and Day Care to deliver creative session for patients.  Sessions range from creative writing, painting, singing, crafting and hen keeping.

The latest artists to join us is Michael from Equal Arts and he helped showed patients how to create a ‘shallow relief plaster casting’.  This involved some very tactile activities such as rolling out of clay and using lots of different tools and instruments to design a pattern on the clay.  Once the plaster was poured and dried out the following week, patients then painted their casts and took them home.
