Another new service on its way…

Day services at Alice House Hospice’s Holistic Wellbeing Centre continue to grow as more people start to appreciate the excellent services on offer.

As a result of this an additional day has recently been added, however requests are still coming in from some people who, because of their complex health problems, find it difficult to access traditional day care places.

TSB choose the Hospice

Fundraisers at Alice House Hospice are delighted to have been selected by TSB in Horden as the bank’s Charity Partner for the coming year.

The charity was chosen by customers in the branch in a vote and will supported through a variety of fundraising initiatives, starting with a company donation of £100.

Local golf club celebrating fundraising success

Members of Hartlepool Golf Club are celebrating their fundraising success in this year’s Great North Run, in aid of Alice House Hospice, one of the charities nominated by current Captain Neal Thornley.

The Hospice has enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with the Golf Club, who have supported for many years, through the various Captains, Great North Runners and other initiatives.

Triathlon support from Blind veteran

Blind veteran David Cranson took part in his third Big Lime Triathlon on 1 October to raise funds for Alice House Hospice.

This is the second consecutive year that David, who is registered blind having lost 90% of his sight through a hereditary condition, has raised sponsorship for the Hospice and he generated a fantastic £243.  With the help of his chaperone, Darrel Slater, David completed the event (a 750m open water swim, 20km cycle ride and 5km run) in a personal best time of 02:05:05.

Development of services continues…

Alice House Hospice is currently in the middle of two new exciting building projects.

The first will create two additional bedrooms on the Hospice’s long term care unit, which will be available from the New Year.  These beds have been in high demand since the unit was opened in November 2014 and will take the number of long term beds from 7 to 9, which is in addition to the short-term specialist palliative care unit which provides 8 beds and 1 respite bed.
