Charity Walk In Memory of Stuart Luck
Local man, John Fowler has organised his own fundraising walk in memory of his best friend Stuart Luck, in aid of Alice House Hospice.
On Sunday 23 April, John will walk from The Suit Direct Stadium, home of Hartlepool United to Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium. He will be completing the tribute walk with his youngest daughter Sophie.
The following day, this time accompanied by his eldest daughter Jenna, John will start to walk from The Riverside to The New York Stadium, the home ground of Rotherham United in South Yorkshire. The dad and daughter team will arrive in Rotherham on 29 April for the Middlesbrough Vs Rotherham match.
Middlesbrough supporter Stuart was cared for in the Long-Term Unit at Alice House and his story was featured on page 10 in the most recent edition of the Hospice’s supporter magazine.
John and his daughters have set up an online fundraising page where people can show their support by donating in Stuart’s memory.
“The Hospice provided exceptional care for Stuart during his last months. Their kindness and compassion left a lasting impression on everyone and John wants to give back in any way he can.
The Hospice staff went above and beyond to support Stuart’s family providing them with emotional support and guidance during this difficult time.
Our goal is to raise as much money as we can to help Alice House continue to provide compassionate care to their patients and families. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference. All funds raised will be donated directly to Alice House to support their mission.”
On the page, they talk about how the Hospice supported Stuart and his loved ones
“Our thanks and go to John, Sophie and Jenna – wishing them the best of luck in this very personal challenge. I hope that this helps to provide some comfort following the sad loss of their dear friend Stuart.
The money raised will help to sustain local Hospice services and ensure that we can be there for other patients and their families in the future.”

Alice House Hospice provides care and support to people affected by life limiting illness or the death of a loved one in Hartlepool, Tees Valley and East Durham. It costs over £3.5m to fund these services for one year. The Hospice receives just less than 21% of this in Government funding, leaving a shortfall of just under £8,000 to be raised every single day.
