Sandra Britten, Staff

Sandra has worked in the Charity sector for 30 years...

I have two favourite quotes which sum up why I work at the Hospice.

‘I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples’

Mother Teresa

‘In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years’ (Abraham Lincoln).

Working for the Hospice is a true privilege. I am extremely proud to be part of such a dedicated and committed team of staff and volunteers who work together to deliver the Hospice’s patient care services, ensuring that our patients have quality of life. I am passionate to be part of an organisation that places the patient at the centre of all decision making and where care is delivered in a holistic and individual approach which respects dignity, privacy and freedom of choice. We receive so many lovely comments from patients and their families and this is what drives me forward to constantly strive to improve their experience within the Hospice.

Finally, ‘I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples’ (Mother Teresa).

Without the support of our local communities in Hartlepool and East Durham we would not be able to deliver our services. Our local communities help us to raise nearly £2m each year so that our services can be delivered free of charge. Who wouldn’t be proud to work with such kind and generous local communities?
